Loch Leven Equine Practice

Dedicated To Horse & Owner

Why use Loch Leven Equine Practice?

  • Our aim is to provide a comprehensive range of veterinary services to all horses and ponies entrusted to our care.
  • Our experienced equine vets are committed to providing our clients with a professional and compassionate service.
  • Case continuity is very important to the practice and therefore we will do our very best to ensure that you see the vet of your choice and that they are able to follow cases through from start to finish.
  • It is practice policy to only employ experienced equine vets who have dedicated their careers to looking after horses and ponies. This means that even in emergencies out of office hours you will always see an experienced horse vet.
  • Our vets are always available for advice to discuss certain cases or conditions even if you do not require a visit.

Our Catchment Area

We provide first opinion work to clients living in Kinross-shire, Fife and Perthshire. The area runs from north of the Forth Road Bridge, east to cover the whole of Fife, up to just north of Perth and West over to Gleneagles and Auchterarder. We are happy to see second opinion cases out of this area but we have to make sure we have a vet available to cover our own catchments area in case of emergencies.

Emergency Service

Unfortunately it is inevitable that at some stage your horse or pony may need to see a vet in an emergency. If this occurs during our office hours please call the office on 01577 840022 and we will re-route one of the vets to you immediately. If you need to see a vet out of office hours please call 07789684245. We would much rather you called for advice than wait till the office opens.

We have fantastic In-patient facilities which include:

  • stabling
  • examination area with stocks
  • school and hard trot up area for lameness examinations.
  • use of paddocks and horse walker.

If your horse requires constant monitoring, multiple bandage changes or a lengthy lameness work up we can look after them at South Kilduff for you until they are ready to go home. All stables are rubbered, your horse or pony will be bedded on good quality dust free bedding; and we have hay or haylage on site and a range of feeds to suit your horses’ needs. There is someone living on site above the stables so that patients can be monitored through the night if required.
